Plays

I’ve had my most success as a Playwright. My first show, Mister E: A Clue Parody, was nominated for an ariZoni award for Best Original Script. Didn’t win that one, but a couple of years later, I did take home a Zoni for my youth adaptation of 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea for TheaterWorks. But I’ve written many more that have not been performed, and some have never been read by anyone other than my friends.

My current catalog can be found at New Play Exchange.

Interactive Theater

During the pandemic of 2020, I was honored to be asked to contribute to a new piece of experimental theater. Instead of trying to emulate the experiences of the past, this would be something made from elements of the past; interactive theater, improvisation, haunted houses, Disney rides, but made into something unique. I helped contribute scenes to the first iteration, got to write a full script for their Holiday version, entitled A Curious Nutcracker. And finally was asked to do a full script for their adult version, entitled Curiouser & Curiouser Too.

Finished Plays

Mister E: A Clue Parody

A parody of the board game Clue, this show is done in the round with the audience sitting on all sides of the game board. Set in modern times, twelve individuals are gathered together for the stock launch of a new company. But when the founder is murdered mere hours before they go live, it's a mad scramble to find the killer, the location and the murder weapon before all their fortunes fall. The original production of the show was honored with 6 Zoni nominations, including Best Original Play and Best Original Script.

20,000 Leagues Under The Sea

This action oriented adaptation of the classic story is written almost entirely inside the submarine, with the audience along for the ride. Our Captain Nemo is a woman who has seen too much of war and has set herself up as the defender of the ocean, destroying all the warships she encounters. But her past is racing to catch up to her, as she is pursued by a foe from the past while being set upon by a horror from the deep. The original production was honored with 11 ariZoni Award nominations, taking home 6 trophies, including one for Best Original Script - Youth.

Answer KEy: A high School Heist

It's "Ocean's 11" meets "The Breakfast Club". When Michelle is thrown into detention by a lying, cheating schoolmate, she comes up with a plan to expose him and the school admins that are helping keep his corruption a secret. But she'll need to gather a crew and face up to some of her own past sins if she's to see that justice is done. This show takes the classic heist format and transplants it to a private school, where students must avoid hall monitors instead of lasers and risk expulsion instead of jail time. But for them the stakes are the same. This is my wife’s favorite script.

The Curse Of Treasure Island

In this modern retelling of the classic novel Treasure Island, we meet Bobbi, a teenage runaway living in the Florida Keys. Soon she gets swept up with a group of ne'er do wells who stole cartel money. But they were betrayed by one of their own who stole the money and hid it on an uncharted island. Now only Bobbi, a friendly cook named Jolene Silver and the odd group of people she finds to help her can locate the treasure. But will they be the first to find Treasure Island?

Fennec the Fox: A Tall Tale of the Weird West

Follow the adventure of our (anti) hero Fennec the Fox and her begrudging companion Vulture as they try to pull off a magical heist! Our unlikely duo tries to stop the evil Tarantula from getting her eight legs on a magic stone that will give her total power. Along the way, Fennec must use her wits and her legendary gift of gab to avoid the many dangers of the wild desert. Angry and agile cacti, the freakish Horned Toad and even the feared Chupacabra all stand between her and her goal. Our adventure is populated by nothing but animals – this is the Hundred Acre Woods without Christopher Robin, the Jungle Book without any mancubs. It’s bright red flowers sprouting on looming giant green cacti, towering mesas and powerful dust devils, hidden arroyos concealing precious life giving springs, and perhaps concealed predators… It’s the West, even wilder than we knew.

What Alice Saw There

This is "Alice In Wonderland" by way of "Five Nights At Freddie's" or "Bioshock" No one believes the stories about an underground theme park, forgotten and buried by time. But when Alice falls into this land of decaying robots still trying to run their bizarre programs, she realizes she needs to play their strange games if she's ever going to return to the safety of the world above.
